Sophie Cornish is a director, advisor and shareholder of a number of businesses in fashion, e-commerce and the media.
Sophie experienced an acute stroke in 2020 which was attributed to previously undiagnosed dilated cardiomyopathy and systolic heart failure with an LVEF of 12%. She is grateful to have made a full recovery from her stroke, and – after a cardiac ablation and ongoing drug therapy – improved her heart function.
Sophie’s career began as a beauty writer and editor in women’s magazines, as a marketer in cosmetics and advertising, and with early dotcom start-ups. In 2006 she co-founded online marketplace notonthehighstreet.com, one of the UK’s leading digital brands which supports 5,000 creative small businesses and connects them with millions of customers. From this came Sophie's two bestselling, co-authored books: Build A Business From Your Kitchen Table (2012) and Shape Up Your Business, (2014). A particular focus is now on her role as Chairman of Busby & Fox, a womenswear brand with seven stores across the UK.
Sophie was awarded an MBE in the Queen's 2013 Birthday Honours and has won several industry awards. She and her husband have two grown up children and divide their time between homes in Devon and South West London
